As soon as a person notices acne spots on their skins they will want to get rid of acne without wasting another moment. Acne can really spoil your looks and when it affects women the need to find a means to remove the spots is especially strong because women are more concerned about looking their best than men. Teens too have a major acne problem to deal with though everyone can be affected by acne and at any age. Once acne develops on your skin you should fear that if the condition becomes very severe it will really require some form of intervention to be able to remove the unsightly marks.

You will be surprised to learn that each year many millions of Americans (most of whom are women) need to get rid of acne that is certainly a major problem among adults. Societies that still follow the traditional way of living are less likely to be so badly affected by acne because these societies are generally not so industrialized and their population is less prone to living off junk food and the environment in which they live will be less polluted. All these factors exist in the industrialized world and are a major cause of an acne problem.

People that eat the wrong kinds of foods are at greater risk of developing acne because the wrong foods will be devoid of nutritional value which is a reason why the digestive system stops functioning normally and this is another reason for people suffering from acne. When the hormonal balance is adversely affected chances of acne developing will rise.

When a person consumes too much of carbohydrates in their daily meals they become prone to being affected by acne and if you also eat foods that are not organic then again risk from acne rises. The wrong diet can also throw your hormonal balance out of order and this too can cause you to suffer from acne.

Another reason why the hormonal equilibrium is disturbed is because of being on birth control pills or because of certain medications. Women that are pregnant or who are in menopause too will notice a disturbance in their hormonal makeup which again can cause acne.

The genes too can make you prone to acne. However, if you are affected by acne and you wish to get rid of acne you must act with patience because results will never show up overnight or in a short span of time.

Some people recommend using your homemade recipes that can help you create solutions in your kitchen that can prove to be very helpful in being rid of your acne problem. The key to succeeding in eliminating acne lies in first identifying the cause of the problem and then taking steps that help in eliminating the causes.

It is possible to also take recourse to certain medications that are readily available and which promise to remove acne. However, you should be careful about using such medications because they will only remove the symptoms of the problem and will not remove the problem from its roots.

Are you tired of all the attention acne draw to your face? Do you think that you spend too much time trying to get rid of it just to have it return? Stop driving yourself crazy and learn how to get rid of acne now! You can also learn how to get rid of pimples – the ins and outs.

Healthy Skin Needs The Nutrition Of Vitamins And Minerals

We all want to look our best. Healthy skin makes us look younger and makes us feel more beautiful. In addition to the cosmetic benefits of healthy skin there are other health benefits to consider. Our skin was designed to be a protective barrier to keep bacteria, viruses and other contaminants from entering the body. Eating healthy is a great start to keeping your skin healthy but adding vitamins and mineral supplements act as insurance.

Free-radical damage occurs in skin just like every other part of our bodies. Anti-oxidant vitamins, like vitamin A, C and E are essential in warding off this damage. One of the types of free radical damage is the

Anti-oxidant vitamins, like Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E are important to healthy skin because it is these vitamins that share in the responsibility of controlling the damage that free radicals, byproducts of energy production within the body and of environmental contaminants, produce. Collagen and elastin, which are fibers that support the skin, are damaged by these free radicals. As these are this damage occurs, wrinkles and a lack of that youthful elasticity begin to take place. Vitamin C is essential in the production of collagen, making it necessary to the look of the skin and its function. Recent studies have even found that the combination of Vitamins C and E can be used to help repair sun-damaged skin.

Small deficiencies of vitamin A can affect skins health and beauty. In addition to its anti-oxidant properties, vitamin A helps eliminate dryness and flakiness to the skin. This dryness makes lines and wrinkles in skin even more apparent than skin that is hydrated.

Vitamin A’s main use though is as a topical treatment for the reduction of lines and wrinkles and it’s been found effective against severe acne. Recent studies have found skin treatments that include the combination of Vitamin A and C can in some cases reverse the damage caused by aging and the sun.

Vitamin B deficiencies can lead to cracking, bleeding and even skin legions. These legions can be dangerous because they can allow bacteria, viruses and other contaminants to enter the body through the skin. Even a little shortage of Vitamin B can leave skin looking scaly and badly textured. Creams made with vitamin B have been found to hydrated skin cells, leaving firmer, healthier looking skin.

If you’re plagued by dark circles under your eyes, vitamin K has been found to help. Some studies claim that creams made up of both Vitamin K and Vitamin A are more effective than those made with Vitamin K, but research is still being done on this combination.

The minerals Selenium, Copper and Zinc have also been found to improve the look and health of skin. Selenium can be used as a topical treatment or a dietary supplement in an effort to prevent skin cancer. While Zinc, copper and the addition of vitamin C work together to keep skin healthy and firm by forming elastin.

Used correctly by following standard guidelines, vitamins and minerals can be a great way to keep skin looking young and healthy. The key is to recognize that these are powerful substances and care should be taken to use the proper dosage. Not following guidelines could result in effects that can result in serious side effects. Used correctly though, vitamins and minerals can be a welcome addition to your beauty regime.

The Main Cause Of Acne – Sebum

Published by under Uncategorized

Author: CD Mohatta -br
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Sebum plays the biggest role in formation of acne. If there were no sebum, there would be no acne. To know more about how sebum is responsible for acne and what role it plays, let us study more about how acne forms.

Acne forms near the opening of the sebaceous glands that have hair follicle in them. In normal circumstances, the cells that form the wall of the gland exfoliate from the pore opening. Sometimes, these cells become dysfunctional and instead of exfoliating normally, block the pore opening. This block stops the sebum going out on the skin.

In the meantime, the glands keep producing sebum and if hormonal disturbance is present, the glands produce sebum at a higher rate. This sebum keeps filling the gland sac. That is the beginning of acne.

A bacterium called Proprionobacterium acnes (P. acnes) thrive in the atmosphere that is full of sebum and no air. This bacterium infects the gland. At this stage when the bacteria are flourishing and causing inflammation, the gland is producing more sebum and the pore is blocked, the gland becomes very infective and full of dead cells, bacteria, pus and dead skin. This is what we call as a pimple. When a pimple gets much bigger, it is called a cyst. Now you know that acne is mainly caused by blocked sebum and infection inside the sebum. Let us know more about how and why sebum is produced.

The Latin meaning of sebum is fat. You find that your hair becomes oily if you leave it unwashed for few days, isnt it? That is because of sebum. Sebum is produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. From there sebum comes out and coats the hair follicles. Traveling through the hair, sebum reaches the surface of the skin. There it mixes with other lipids and sweat and forms a coating on the skin. Sweat, lipids and environmental dirt are other ingredients of the oil on the skin. This oil protects skin from bacterial infection. It also reduces the natural water loss from the skin.

The density of sebaceous glands varies. Sebaceous glands are found most on the forehead, chin and middle portion of the back. That is why most acne is found on these places. Sebum production decreases with age. . Sebum production increases suddenly at the time of puberty. In women, it reduces substantially after menopause. Adult females produce less sebum than men. By reducing sebum production, acne can be cured. Sebum production can be controlled by various medicines.

In order to know your skin type you will need to answer this basic questions…Lets Get Started:-
Q1: How often do you break out?
Q2: Do you have BlackheadsOpen Comedons?
Q3: What do your Pores Look like?
Q3: How does your skin look Feel, after washing with soap?
Q4: Do you have facial lines?
Q5: Have you answered these Questions??!!

By answering the previous questions, you can determine what type of acne products will work best for you you can also predict how your skin might react to them.

Skin types according the medical point of view are classified into three basic typesYou may have a combination of them such as normal to oily, or normal to dry: 1- Oily Type. 2- Normal Type. 3- Dry Type.
Each of these types has its own products to take care of it.

Lets break it down. Each skin type is characterized by different things such as texture, oil production, and frequency of breakouts.

People with dry skin do not suffer many breakouts, and rarely ever have blackheads. This is because oil promotes breakouts by closing pores and blackheads are caused by the increase of oil production from the Sebum glandsGlands in the skin that produces an oily material called Sebum. If your skin is dry, you are not producing very much oil, therefore, you arent prone to as many episodes.

If you have a dry skin your skin may have nearly visible pores, and you may feel dry and tight after washing. Most people with dry skin are fair skinned, and often develop facial lines earlier in life. This skin type also burns easily.

People with normal skin occasionally suffer form breakouts, and can have blackheads that appear mostly in the t-zone this is the area on either side of the nose and on the forehead. Pores often appear visible in the t-zone, and the skin may feel tight after washing, but will soon become comfortable with oil in t-zone.

The skin coloring is usually fair to medium, and a few lines may appear early on mostly around the eyes. This skin type when exposed to the sun, usually burns, then tans.

Lastly, People with oily skin often suffer from frequent breakouts with blackheads. The pores are often enlarged, and after washing the face may be oily, with the nose and forehead quickly becoming shiny.

The skin coloring is often olive to dark. Facial lines are usually very few to none in occurrence, and oily skin usually stays preserved longer and does not age as quickly as do the other skin types. When exposed to the sun, this skin type rarely burns, but rather tans easily.

Now you are capable of determining your skin type. So, you can easily find products developed specially for you. You will find a number of products on the market dealing with each of these skin types, as well as for combination skin. Once you find your acne regimen of products that work stick to it. Adaplene is retinoid, derivative of Vitamin A. It is believed that Adaplene works by stopping the acne forming under the skin surface. Adaplene does not cure acne but controls it. Adaplene is available in liquid, gel or cream and is to be applied to acne prone skin and acne affected skin.. In the beginning many users find acne getting worse. That should not worry the user. Keep using Adaplene and slowly the acne will clear. It takes about two to three months for acne to clear up with Adaplene usage.

Products that contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Sulphur, Salicylic Acid, Resorcinol, Alcohol are some that have to be avoided. It is always better to discuss about cosmetics you may be using with your doctor as some of them may contain something that may cause irritation if used with Adaplene..

Adaplene may cause some side effects in the beginning. They include- dryness, redness, stinging, scaling and itching etc. If these side effects are severe, inform your doctor. Top Five Reasons To Take Care Of Your Skin Now

Published by under Uncategorized

Author: Sally Hartbr
Source: isnare.combr
br
Careful and faithful skin care is important at any age, especially for women. Womens skin is thinner and more fragile than mens skin at all stages of life, but as women age the fragility of their skin increases steadily. With proper care, however, you can improve the tone and strength of your skin and keep it looking and feeling younger for many years.

The best skin care products not only cleanse and moisturize your skin, but nourish and protect it as well. Todays products come in a variety of types that are sometimes called cosmoceuticals, or cosmetic pharmaceuticals that combine the qualities of both a more traditional moisturizer or makeup with recent pharmaceutical developments in skin restructuring and enhancement.

There are plenty of reasons to develop a skin care regimen using some of these products, but lets take a look at the five most important reasons:

1. You Cant Stop the Elements

No matter where you work or what you do, your skin is exposed to the elements, including harsh winds, drying sunshine and a host of other environmental factors that you cant control. Even if you work in an office and dont see a lot of the sun, your skin will be affected by the dry air found in most office buildings and various other contaminants like air pollution and irritants like allergens.

2. Age and Menopause Both Damage Skin

As we age our skin loses some of its elasticity due to simple aging. The cells and collagen in the skin break down more rapidly than new ones are formed and the dead skin cells can stay on the surface of the skin. These clumps of dead skin can pile up and lead to rough, uneven skin and blotchiness and acne flare-ups. Menopause increases this problem as collagen levels drop. Using anti-aging creams can restore elasticity and help boost collagen production.

3. You Can Help Prevent Skin Cancer with Proper Care

Skin cancer has become more and more common in the last few decades, due partly to excessive sun exposure. In fact, many women today are still being affected by the trauma they put it through when they were younger and spent hours each day sun-worshipping. The good news is that you can reduce the risk future skin cancer problems by using sun screen every day and keeping your skin supple and moisturized so that it is a more effective barrier.

4. A Skin Care Regimen Improves Skins Appearance

We mentioned earlier that skin can become weakened and damaged by aging, but lets face it – one of the things that is most important to women is making sure their skin stays young looking.

The blotchiness and roughness of older skin can add years to your appearance. Age spots, in fact, are caused by sun exposure and uneven exfoliating of skin. Periodically exfoliating will expose fresher, smoother skin and increase the rate at which your skin replenishes itself with new cells. Moisturizing keeps skin smooth and dewy so that you look and feel younger.

5. Adult Acne Can be A Problem

Acne isnt just the scourge of teens anymore. Today many women in their thirties and forties develop adult acne. Left untreated, adult acne can lead to discoloration and permanent scarring. To prevent adult acne, a proper skin cleansing routine is imperative. Wearing makeup clogs pores and can lead to acne – without proper deep cleansing, makeup that clogs pores will cause acne that not only looks unattractive, but can become permanent problems, since adult skin doesnt heal as readily as young skin.

The next time youre tempted to skin a good skin care program that combines the best anti-aging and skin cleansing products, remember these five reasons. The five minutes it takes to care for your skin properly will seem a wise investment!br

How Should You Go About Treating Oily Skin?

Published by under Uncategorized

Author: Sherry Frewerdbr
Source: isnare.combr
br
Oily skin sufferers everywhere share the same complaints against their complexion. Shiny, greasy slime that makes you feel like youve fallen into a vat of Crisco is not fun, nor is it attractive. There are so many products on the market that claim to fix the problem, but do they really? Do these wonder products actually remedy the problem, or do they do little more than just sop up the slime temporarily until a short while later youre back to the same uncomfortable situation.

There is a solution to the oil prone skin sufferers dilemma. But first, you need to know a little more about the science of why your skin is oily in the first place. Simply put, your body produces too much sebum, the natural skin moisturizer. As more sebum builds up, you experience the uncomfortable oily condition that you desperately want to prevent. By not treating the build up properly, your complexion retaliates by producing more shine, pimples and blackheads, and eventually leaving enlarged pores and an unhealthy complexion overall.

Knowing this information, and realizing that the problems lies deep within your body rather than simply sitting on the surface of your skin, you can better design a plan of attack and proper treatment. Although you may never completely fix the issue, you can learn to maintain it. On the flip side and a bonus for oily skin types is that people with this type of skin tend to show fewer wrinkles and other signs of aging on their face since oily skin keeps its elasticity throughout the years. You may think your lucky stars when youre 65 years young!

Until then, what simple, effective steps can you take to control oily build-up and improve your skins appearance? First of all, do not over wash your face. This will do little more than further aggravate the problem as the over washing will strip your skins natural oils and send a red hot flare signal to your glands to make more oil fast! Just doesnt make sense does it?

Your goal in oily skin control is to create balance by washing your face daily with a mild, oil free cleanser. If you can find one containing alpha hydroxy acids, youll be able to remove dead skin cells and make your face appear fresher and healthier. Follow with a mild toner and oil free moisturizer and youll be good to go.

If you wear makeup, then by all means choose a product that is oil-free, ideally a product such as Marlo Minerals, a natural mineral makeup that comes in a powder form, and contains only natural ingredients that will not clog your pores or aggravate acne prone skin. Your skin, oils and all, will work with the product, and many people report an improvement in their complexion overall after using mineral makeup for a few weeks.

Along with proper cleansing and product choices such as cleansers and makeup, you can make a difference in the amount of oil your body produces by watching what you eat, and by choosing foods that are low in fat such as fruits and veggies, and of course by drinking the recommended amount of water daily. By making these simple changes, you can take strides toward controlling the oily shine on your face and improve your health and well-being at the same time.br

Is Smoking a Cause of Acne?

Published by under Health & Fitness

Author: Boston Reynolds
Source: ezinearticles.com

Acne has a lot of research and people debating what the cause is. Conventional wisdom says that it’s greasy foods, like pizza and chocolate that causes it. Others think that it’s toxins in other parts of your diet and environment that causes it. However, there may be a link between cigarettes and smoking, at least according to one study.

Researchers in Rome, at the San Gallicano Dermatological Institute, have suggested that smoking tobacco cigarettes is a contributing factor to acne breakouts. In particular, they think it’s a cause of non-inflamed breakouts, like blackheads and cysts.

They performed a study that shows that among adults with acne, non-smokers were more likely to have inflammatory acne. Smokers, however, were significantly more likely to have non-inflammatory acne. These results point to a new entry in the long list of smoking related skin diseases. The researchers have begun to refer to this as “smoker’s acne.”

Their results show that 42% of smokers had some form of acne outbreaks, nearly four times that of non smokers. Cigarette smokers also seemed to develop acne of the non-inflammatory kind at a much higher rate than other adults who suffered from acne. If you looked just at the gender of participants in the study, nearly 80% of the women who suffered from this kind of acne were smokers.

The amount of smoking didn’t seem to matter on the amount of breakouts. People who smoked a little were just as likely to suffer from acne as those who smoked a lot. However, those who suffered from acne as a teenager or in high school, and were now smokers, did show a higher incidence of being affected now. In fact, they were nearly four times as likely to have acne problems now as their counterparts.

Of the non-smokers who suffered from non-inflammatory acne, nearly half of them were subject to other environmental factors that put them at higher risk for acne in general. This included working in restaurants or other places where smoke was prevalent.

The numbers were pretty compelling, particularly the finding that over 90% of smokers who had acne, had the non-inflammatory variety. And that those who did have non-inflammatory acne, over 82% were smokers. While it can be hard to prove beyond all doubt, this kind of evidence is hard to ignore.
